Warhol
Absolut Warhol puts Andy Warhol's 1985 painting of the Absolut bottle back onto the bottle itself. Warhol was the first artist to paint the bottle, and his canvas opened decades of collaborations between Absolut and artists. The 2014 end-of-year edition reproduced it in black with blue, pink and yellow, in a run of around four million bottles, part of the proceeds going to the Andy Warhol Foundation. The story took a new turn in 2020, when a long-rumoured companion canvas, Absolut blue, resurfaced at auction with the contract confirming that two works had been commissioned, and Absolut returned to it in 2024 along with Warhol's layered screen printing.

The end-of-year bottle for 2014, and a return to the beginning: Warhol's 1985 painting of the bottle was the first of what became thousands of collaborations between Absolut and artists. The original hangs in a museum; this puts it on the object it depicts. A share of the proceeds went to the Andy Warhol Foundation, whose endowment has given out close to $250 million in grants to contemporary visual art. Four million copies, with several text variations on the back.
