Hammar

This collection gathers the special bottles of the Hammar glassworks, the Swedish works that blew Absolut's glass until it closed in 1992. Founded in 1854, Hammar belonged to PLM, the glass group behind Absolut's bottles, and made small runs for its own people outside the commercial range: personal bottles carrying a first name, bottles for Christmas and Easter, even one printed with the glassblowers' drinking song. The closure produced the best known, Den Sista I Hammar, given to the workers in 1992. Most are empty and unsealed, as they never went near the filling line: they are souvenirs of a factory more than of a vodka.

    Den Sista I Hammar

    1992 · 2 variants

The last bottles out of Hammar. The glassworks had been blowing glass continuously since 1854 and made Absolut's bottles until it closed in June 1992; roughly 250 of these went to the workers. They are always empty and unsealed — they never entered the filling line. The Swedish text thanks the glassworkers for keeping the trade alive for 138 years. Two versions exist, one in black and green marked Midsommar 1992, one in yellow without it.
