International cities & countries

This collection gathers Absolut bottles dedicated to cities and countries outside the United States, each one a portrait of a place. Most pair a place with an artist who comes from it, so the bottle reads as a local view rather than a postcard: Jamie Hewlett drawing London figures from two centuries of style, or Oskar Metsavaht photographing Ipanema for Rio, the first Absolut limited edition for a Latin American country. Some came with a flavour of their own, made to taste of the place. Others look closer to home, at the Swedish character and at Åhus, the distillery town where Absolut is made.

The first of the European city bottles, drawn by Jamie Hewlett — the artist behind Gorillaz and Tank Girl. Seven figures stand against the skyline, each one a style that shaped the city over two centuries: an eighteenth-century dandy, a Dickensian, a pinstriped gent, a sixties dollybird, a ska, a punk and an eighties casual, all in Hewlett's own line. 518,000 copies.
